About this deal

Distinctive illustrations and lift-the-flap postcards make it a joy to share with children, who will also enjoy spotting the shadowy jackal lurking in the background of each picture. Emily Gravett's colourful yet sparse illustrations cleverly depict a bumbling bear interacting in many different and imaginative ways with the fruit mentioned in the title. But from the watery world of the Marsh Mongoose to the nocturnal lifestyle of the Malagasy Mongoose, Sunny just doesn’t fit in.Payments made using National Book Tokens are processed by National Book Tokens Ltd, and you can read their Terms and Conditions here. I was a little disappointed with the finish of the book because I had to glue several of the flaps back down before I'd even read it. The pages feel quite interactive as there are postcards to lift up so it's engaging for younger readers. Meerkat Mail by Emily Gravett is a great animal story to use in EYFS and KS1 when covering a journeys or animals topic. Emily Gravett is a graduate of Brighton University and winner of the 2004 Macmillan Prize for Illustration.

But Sunny is starting to feel claustrophobic and decides to set off to stay with his mongoose cousins and explore the outside world. Wolves was received with great acclaim across the children’s book world, winning many prizes including the prestigious CILIP Kate Greenaway Medal. Her first picture book WOLVES was published in August 2005 to great acclaim, winning the CILIP Kate Greenaway Medal and a clutch of other awards it marked the beginning of a stellar career creating extraordinary books for children.

Emily Gravett is twice winner of the CILIP Kate Greenaway Medal and the Nestlé Children's Book Prize Bronze Award for Wolves and Little Mouse's Big Book Of Fears. It has wonderfully detailed, witty artwork and a giant, glossy postcard flap to lift on every spread. But from the watery world of the Marsh Mongoose to the nocturnal lifestyle of the Malagasy Mongoose, Sunny just doesn't fit in.

Some of the data that are collected include the number of visitors, their source, and the pages they visit anonymously. In 2008 Emily was awarded the rare honour of a second CILIP Kate Greenaway Medal for LITTLE MOUSE'S BIG BOOK OF FEARS.

And what I love as well as a parent is that the book teaches about the importance of keeping in touch with the wider family as well as how great it is to go traveling but always come back home. Meerkat Mail is a brilliant picture book from Emily Gravett, the winner of the Kate Greenaway Medal. Emily has also illustrated Cave Baby which was written by the former children’s laureate Julia Donaldson. Each book is unique and different from the last – and each features endearing, beautifully drawn characters that touch the heart and tickle the funny bone. Sunny lives on an arid plain with his extensive and loving meerkat family; they work together, play together and together do their best to stay away from jackals!
