About this deal

This has no effect on safety, nor does it cause any looseness in the connection, but it took me a little while to get used to it. Please note: When selecting the correct axle for your bike there is a handy Thru Axle Finder so you can easily find the exact axle you need. I've been using a Kangaroo wee-ride, which I've found to be excellent - far more stable than some rear-mounted seats I've tried, as the C of G stays central. If you know anyone who you think would enjoy reading this review, then please kindly share it with them. This mostly works fine, though the FollowMe Tandem can get in the way in this position if you need to move your bike around on its back wheel.

We have 2 trailgators – they do the job, but set up has to be spot on otherwise your passenger will be leaning over (a lot) or their handlebars will not be straight. I have to give them credit for being the only importer of the FollowMe Tandem Coupling into the US (if you know of another one, please let everyone know! The instruction booklet has nice imagery that certainly helps, although there are a few steps that you’ll kind of have to figure out on your own.I was curious as to whether the FollowMe tandem would get in the way, but it’s a doddle to hook up and is reasonably compact once you get used to the overhang at the rear. Though our youngest has just learned to ride a pedal bike, so I decided to set his bike up for the FollowMe Tandem. At least in our incarnation of the trailer, you are essentially bending a metal strip around the downtube and tighten it by turning a screw. It’s not as elegant a system as the Trail Gator, but it is functional and simple to do, with the hanging strap wrapping around, and clipping onto, the seat post when you have a bike in tow.

If you haven’t towed anything before it would be worth spending some time getting used to braking and turning with the child’s bike behind you. Now I’m not allowed to do that because one of the most important elements of testing out new equipment is whether or not the accompanying instructions help or hinder in the quest to get going. All you need to do is remove the two screws from either end of your rear axle adapter, pull out the splints and take the FollowMe frame off. The UK distributor has advised that all bolts on the FollowMe Tandem should be checked on a regular basis, as advised in the manual. Das Hinterfahrrad kippt nach rechts und links und der Haken am Kinderrad hat sich sogar bereits soweit gelöst, dass mein Sohn in einer Tour über Schotterwege aus der Halterung raus ist, und böse hingefallen ist.

The FollowMe Tandem Coupling is an ideal fit for my needs: I want to carry two children on a standard bicycle, safely, in a way that involves them in the ride. This location is not compatible with the upward arc of the coupling where it attaches to the parent bike's axle; I don't know why that upward arc is even necessary. If you want to up your game to the next level and add an extra layer of protection, you can simply install an additional MudGuard. The bike felt extremely stable with the Islabike hooked up, with no noticeable rattles as I bumped along pothole ridden roads.

A small pin that keeps the coupling from folding up while being used (and that rattles around while you ride) has a small metal wire tether. To sum it up: AFAIK, it's the only available solution if you want to be able to pull your kid along, whilst retaining the option to have your child cycle on his/her own.As you'll see below, I didn't want to deal with the distributor (Clever Cycles) to get a replacement. With two-point support at axle level of the adult's bike, FollowMe ensures safety, ride quality and stability. That is, if the front wheel is secured to the front forks with a quick release skewer or allen key bolts.

At the end of the day, the FollowMe’s safety obviously depends on whether you have installed and set up everything the way it is supposed to be: Have you tightened all screws properly? Its high-quality design and construction allow it to accomplish exactly what it was designed for, without falling short of its mark. We’ve not used the FollowMe Tandem recently, mainly as our eldest has reached the stage where he can cover quite a few miles without it. I’m hoping I can source a replacement bolt from the UK distributor of FollowMe Tandem, so I can get it working again and back on the road. If you have a thru-axle or a fixed spindle, on the other hand, you want to make sure that you have the right adapter at hand. When riding separately, the frame folds up and clips to the parcel rack, or seat post, via a fabric strap. If your bike’s rear-wheel has a standard quick-release axle installed, you are definitely good to go with what you get in the FollowMe retail box. If these benefits sound like something you personally consider to be important, I highly suggest you give this review a thorough read: A FollowMe tandem may be exactly what you are looking for! Leider passt unser Anhänger (Chariot Corsaire) nicht mit angebauter Kupplung dran, da dann das FollowMe an den Anhänger schlägt. So, I usually put the pannier on the front rack even when I don't have my son in his rear-rack seat.
