About this deal

An electric heater can save you precious pennies on your monthly bills, while warming up the rooms in your home quicker and much more efficiently than waiting for the central heating to boost. But there are smaller, more portable options, such as those we've tested, that are designed for use indoors.

Each of the smart heaters we've tested have been internet-security tested, and at the time of publishing each provides an adequate level of protection. Once we’d used the remote to set the temperature in degrees Celsius, the fan kicked in straightaway and then shut off when the room was up to temperature.

Ceramic space heater with adjustable thermostat for cozy warmth and oscillating option for better heat dispersal in multiple directions. Air is drawn in at the base of the machine and amplified to create long-range heat projection for warmth and high-velocity air to cool you down. It can be used in all seasons, too, thanks to a fan functionality that will be a godsend in summer heatwaves.

When we say fast, we mean Usain Bolt’s level of speed, raising the temperature from chilly to cosy in a matter of minutes. This can be handy for easy timer scheduling, thermostat adjustment or voice commands – but you'll need to ensure you keep on top of downloading the latest updates to avoid any privacy or security risks. If you have the thermostat of your heater set to a desired temperature, the heater will toggle on and off once it reaches that temperature – depending on what's needed to maintain it. In our tests, we set every heater to run at full blast so you can see the maximum amount it cost to heat our medium-sized test room. We loved how it warmed up our legs from under the table as if we were snuggled up under several blankets. With smooth curves and no edges, it blended in seamlessly with the decor of each room we used it in. We've put electric heaters from Argos, Dimplex, DeLonghi, Dyson, Russell Hobbs and more to the test, including electric wall heaters, fan heaters, oil heaters and convectors. However, using it for several hours did cause the overheat mode to kick in, and we found it shut down occasionally. This means the electric heater will need to run at full blast for longer than your central heating, as it will have a tougher job keeping the room at the temperature you want.

The fan ranges in temperatures from five to 35 degrees, so whether you're too hot, too cold or somewhere in the middle - you can adjust the temperature to your liking quickly and easily. With 2,100W of power, it didn’t just heat the area next to the desk, it made the whole room significantly warmer. So we really encourage you to spend a decent amount of times reading through the reviews of Challenge 2kW Ceramic Fan Heater to get a really good idea of how good the product is and how likely it is to meet your needs. For example, we used it in the home office while working and then unplugged it and took it to the kitchen when it was lunchtime, so we could feel comfortable all day. We set up each heater in the centre of our test room and run it on the maximum settings, with the room starting at a cool temperature.
